2005-06 R.I. Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the administrative body of Rotary International. Its 19 members include the RI president, president-elect, and 17 directors who are nominated by the clubs and elected at the RI Convention. The board controls and manages RI affairs and funds in conformity with the RI Constitution and Bylaws. For continuity, each director serves a term of two years. The 2004-05 board, which has eight first-year directors and nine second-year members, represents Rotary leadership drawn from 11 countries.

Glenn E. Estess, Sr.
USA

Glenn Estess is past president of the Birmingham Sales & Marketing Executives Association and the Alabama Association of Personnel Consultants, and a past chair of the Baptist Medical Centers. Estess has been a Rotarian since 1960 and is a member of the Rotary Club of Shades Valley, Ala. He has served RI as district governor, International Assembly instructor and moderator, committee member and chair, Rotary information counselor, aide to the president, Foundation trustee, director, and vice president. He is a past chair of the Development and Retention Committee. He has received The Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service Award. [Spouse: Mary]

President-elect Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar
Sweden

Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar, a food broker, is the former owner of Gust. F. Bratt AB. He has been a member of the boards of several companies and served as chair of the board of a local private school. A Rotarian since 1974, Stenhammar is a member of the Rotary Club of Göteborg. He has served RI as director, district governor, chair of both the Permanent Fund Committee for Europe and RIBI and the Presidential Celebration Committee — Peace and Tolerance, general coordinator of the Literacy and Education Task Force, member of the Polio Eradication Advocacy Task Force, and PolioPlus National Advocacy adviser. Vice-President John F. Germ
USA

John Germ is president and chief executive officer of Campbell & Associates, Inc., consulting engineers. He joined the firm as an engineer in 1965 after four years in the U.S. Air Force. He is a registered engineer licensed in 42 states and Canada. He serves on the boards of several organizations including the State of Tennessee Workforce Development, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, and the Chattanooga State Technical Community College (CSTCC). In Chattanooga, he has served as president of the chamber of commerce, Boy Scouts, and Junior Achievement, and as campaign chair of the United Way. He is president of the Tennessee Jaycee Foundation, CSTCC Foundation, and Blood Assurance, Inc. Germ joined Rotary in 1976 and is a member of the Rotary Club of Chattanooga. He has served RI as district governor, RI training leader, committee member, task force zone and area coordinator, and RI membership zone coordinator. He has also served as Council on Legislation representative. He has received the RI Service Above Self Award and The Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service. Treasurer David D. Morgan
Wales

David Morgan, a member of the Rotary Club of Porthcawl, is director of a property development company. A member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Institute of Civil Engineers, he previously worked in local government and was later in private practice in South Wales for some 30 years. He has served RIBI as president, vice president, and chair and member of various committees. In addition, he has served RI as district governor, International Assembly group discussion leader, committee chair and member, zone coordinator, and task force chair and member. He has also been a Humanitarian Grants CADRE technical coordinator for low-cost shelters.

Director Ronald L. Beaubien
2003-05, USA

Ron Beaubien is president of Island Insurance Services, a full-service insurance agency, and also a director of the Bank of Coronado (California). He has been president/chair-man of the local chamber of commerce, Coronado Hospital Foundation, the Little League board, and San Diego Crime Commission. In 1993, Beaubien and his wife were presented the Coronado Distinguished Citizen Award for outstanding and long-term service to their community. A Rotarian since 1976, Beaubien has served RI as district governor, training leader, and zone institute chair. [Spouse: Vicki]

Director Jocelyn I. Bolante
2004-06, Philippines

Joc-Joc Bolante works for the Philippine government as undersecretary for Finance and Administration of the Department of Agriculture. He also serves as chair of ZNAC Rubber Estates Corporation, Solidlife Holdings Corporation, and Food Credentials Corporation, as well as director of National Power Corporation, Land Bank of the Philippines, and Livelihood Corporation. He is a member of the Investment Coordination Committee at the National Economic Development Authority of the Philippines. Before he joined the government, Bolante was the president of Prudential Life Plan, Inc., and director of 11 affiliates of Prudentialife Plans, Inc. A Rotarian since 1973, he is the charter president and member of the Rotary Club of Parañaque South and has served as RI district governor and member of the Family of Rotary Task Force. Director John J. Eberhard
2003-05, Canada

John Eberhard is a retired lawyer formerly specializing in litigation and aviation and business law. He is now president of a telecommunications company, Virtual Professionals, Inc. He has served on Canada's Civil Aviation Tribunal and is a member of the Greater London International Airport Authority. In 1984, he was the recipient of an Honorary Queen's Counsel for the Province of Ontario. A Rotarian since 1971, Eberhard has served RI as district governor, Council on Legislation member-at-large, training leader, committee member, steering committee member, and zone task force coordi-nator. He is the founder of the International Fellowship of Canoeing Rotarians. In 2002-03, Eberhard was a member of the RI Committee to Simplify Constitutional Documents and coordinator of the 2003 Brisbane Convention Promotion Committee Zone 22 Subcommittee. Serge Gouteyron has been chair of SADA, a food wholesaler, since 1987. He has served as vice president of a mutual insurance company. He has been active in the Groupement Patronal Inter-Professionnel. He is secretary of the Cercle d'Education Culturel and president of North Departemental Committee SOS Villages d'Enfants France. A Rotarian since 1990, Gouteyron is a member of the Rotary Club of Denain-Bouchain. Director Sushil Gupta 2003-05, India

Sushil Gupta is managing director of Asian Hotels Ltd., owners of Hotel Hyatt Regency in Delhi, Mumbai, and Calcutta. He is trustee of the Himalayan Environment Trust and chairman of Gangotri Conservation Project. He has served as president of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India. Gupta has been a member of the Rotary Club of Delhi Midwest since 1977. He has served RI as district governor, group discussion leader, and committee member. [Spouse: Vinita]

Director Sölve Kernell
2004-06, Sweden

Sölve Kernell retired as CEO of a computer service company. A Rotarian since 1978 and member of the Rotary Club of Kalmar, he has served RI as district governor, RI training leader, task force member, regional Rotary Foundation coordinator, Health, Hunger and Humanity (3-H) Grants technical adviser, Family of Rotary Task Force member, PolioPlus Partners coordinator, and PolioPlus Partners Task Force zone coordinator. He has also chaired the Swedish Rotaryservice and served as a Rotary Volunteer. Kernell is a recipient of The Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service. [Spouse: Gunnel]

Director David Linett
2004-06, USA

A graduate of Yale College and Harvard Law School, Dave Linett is president of the law firm of Gindin & Linett, P.C. He served a five-year term as Somerset County (New Jersey) prosecutor and was treasurer and a member of the executive committee of the National District Attorneys Association. He also served 12 years as a commissioner and vice chair of the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission under three state governors. Active in his community, Linett was named Citizen of the Year by the Somerset County Chamber of Commerce. A Rotarian since 1983, Linett is a member of the Rotary Club of Somerville and Bridgewater, N.J. He is founder and international chair of the Rotary Leadership Institute. He has served RI as a district governor, committee and task force member, task force general chair, and vice chair of the Rajendra K. Saboo Endowment Fund of The Rotary Foundation. He has also twice served as Council on Legislation representative. Director Michael D. McCullough 2003-05, USA

Mike McCullough, who is president of M&M Printing, Inc., has been in the printing and publishing business since 1967. He has served the city of Trenton as mayor pro tem, councilman, director of the Economic Development Corporation, and as commissioner for the Zoning Board of Appeals. He is also a member of the Arbor Hospice Advisory Board. A Rotarian since 1974, he has served RI as district governor, International Assembly discussion leader, sergeant-at-arms, task force member, and zone coordinator. He has received RI's Service Above Self Award and The Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service. Director Yoshikazu Minamisono
2004-06, Japan

Yoshi Minamisono is the founder and special counselor of the Hofu Institute of Gastroenterology. He is a gastrointestinal surgeon and has been a member of the Japan Medical Association. Minamisono has been a member of the Rotary Club of Hofu since 1978. He has served RI as district governor, task force coordinator, RI training leader, regional Rotary Foundation coordinator, Family of Rotary Task Force member, and adviser to the Permanent Fund Committee for Japan. Director Luiz Coelho de Oliveira 2003-05, Brazil

Coelho de Oliveira, a medical urologist, was municipal secretary of health of the Regional Medicine Council of São Paulo state and a regional director of Unimed, a national cooperative of physicians. A member of the Rotary Club of Limeira-Leste, he has served RI as a district governor, training leader, regional Rotary Foundation coordinator, Council on Legislation delegate, RI president's representative, and as a member of many RI committees and task forces. He has received The Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service Award and is a Foundation Benefactor. [Spouse: Lucilena]

Director José Antonio Salazar Cruz
2004-06, Colombia

José Antonio Salazar Cruz is an attorney and founder of the Association of Lawyers of the Greater School of Our Lady of the Rosary. He has served as an auxiliary magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice and as judicial counselor of the Ministry of Communications. He is also general director of the Fondo Rotario del Ministerio de Justicia. An entrepreneur, he is founder and legal representative of Grupo Listos, whose five companies provide jobs to more than 7,000 people. He has been financial manager and general secretary of Hoechst Colombiana S.A. and is a past president of the Colombian Association of Temporary Business Services. He is a board member of the Natura Foundation and has served as secretary and vice president of the Christian Family Movement. He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Bogotá Occidente since 1980 and has served RI as district governor, committee member, Rotary information counselor, and International Assembly group discussion leader. Director Sakuji Tanaka 2003-05, Japan

Sakuji Tanaka, a chairman of the nation-al Household Papers Distribution Association of Japan, is chairman of the Daika Company. He has been a charter member of the Rotary Club of Yashio since 1975. He has served RI as district governor, training leader, regional Rotary Foundation coordinator, and committee member. Tanaka is a past member of the Rotary World Peace Scholars Selection and District Conference Review committees. He is a member of the Permanent Fund Committee for Japan. Director Constant A.G.M. Tempelaars 2003-05, The Netherlands

Stan Tempelaars, a physicist, retired in 1999 as director of the Institute of Sonology from the University of Utrecht and the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague. During his career, he was a teacher and researcher in the field of sonology, the science of the musical sound. He also published a number of scientific papers and two books on the subject. He is chairman of the Council of the Roman Catholic parish of Nieuwegein. A Rotarian since 1971, Stan is a member of the Rotary club of Vianen-Vreeswijk. Director Rodger W. Wagner
2004-06, USA

Rodger Wagner retired in 2001 as president of Wagner Realty. He has been a member of national, local, and regional realtors associations. Wagner joined the Rotary Club of Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1975. He has served RI as the charter governor of District 5510, president's representative, and regional Rotary Foundation coordinator. In addition to serving as a Council on Legislation representative, he has served as a national adviser to The Rotary Foundation's Permanent Fund, strategic adviser to the Annual Programs Fund, and member of the Foundation Alumni Resource Group. Wagner is a recipient of the RI Service Above Self Award and The Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service Award. General Secretary Edwin H. Futa USA

General Secretary of Rotary International since July 2000, Ed came to Rotary from Hawaii, where he was president of an international marketing consulting firm. Active in youth ministry, he also served on the Board of Governors of the YMCA and as a mediator in the Neighborhood Justice Center of Honolulu. A Rotarian since 1979, Ed is a member of the Rotary Club of East Honolulu.
